FAQs

FAQs

Do you accept walk-ins?

We do require appointments, but sometimes have last minute openings throughout the week! Email info@lostlagoontattoo.com to check this week's availability or schedule for a future spot!

For everyone's safety only confirmed clients will be allowed in the building except on our monthly Flash Fridays.

How do I get a consult/quote? How do I know which artist is best suited for my design?

The majority of consults are done via email. For the most accurate quote and/or best suited artist, email your design idea to our scheduling team at info@lostlagoontattoo.com! They will help you with the entire process.

What is an email list?

Subscribe to an artist's email list to receive updates on booking, new/available designs, prints, merch, and more! Each artist has an individual email list. *Krissy does not have an email list at this time.*

Do you do piercings/sell jewelry?

We do not offer any piercing services or have jewelry for sale.

Why do I need a deposit?

Deposits are taken to reserve you appointment date/time. Deposits are non-refundable but can be carried once over if you reschedule at least 48 hours in advance. They cannot be transferred between parties. Deposits are applied towards the final cost of the tattoo. If it is a multi-session project, the deposit will carry over to the final session. Deposits are not for artwork. Artists do not submit artwork prior to the day of the appointment.

Will I get my drawing in advance?

Due to artist workload and intellectual property, drawings are not presented until the appointment. Don't worry, edits can still be made!

Can I use numbing cream?

Our artists do NOT allow numbing creams. If you show up with numbing cream on, you may be turned away and forfeit your original deposit. These creams can be very dangerous, which is a risk we are not willing to take with your skin.

Numbing Cream Warnings:

They can cause chemical burns.

If this happens, not only can we not tattoo the area, but serious medical attention may be required. In extreme cases, skin grafts have been needed.

♦ They can cause heart palpitations and other heart related occurrences.

Vasoconstrictors are commonly added to these cream and can be dangerous.

♦ They cause sensitivity.

Once numbing effects (if any) wear off, the area is left more sensitive than it would have been without the cream. This causes a more painful experience.  They generally only last 10-20 minutes, if at all.

♦ They change skin consistency.

The skin becomes rubbery which prevents it from accepting ink or allowing the needle to penetrate properly, causing more trauma to the area, increases tattoo time, and potential long-term skin damage.

♦ They tend to heal rough.

Healing can take longer, cause noticeable scarring, and contribute to significant loss of pigment.

♦ They are inconsistent and unregulated.

These creams are not regulated and have many different ingredients outside of Lidocaine. They work inconsistently and have been used on multiple areas of the same individual with different outcomes.

♦ They are topical.

They sit on the outer layer of the epidermis. Tattooing penetrates multiple layers, not just the top. In order to prep the tattoo, the artist must clean the skin of any topical residue/bacteria/hair in order to properly stencil and marker on your design. By the time this happens, the cream will have been removed prior to the actual tattoo process, and the topical numbing effects (if any) will have subsided. This leaves the outer layer of skin tight, sensitive, potentially burned/injured, unpleasant to work with for both artist and client, and gives the second layer of skin less of a change to hold the tattoo.

Please email info@lostlagoontattoo.com for additional safety information or questions.

What can we offer for pain?

Out artists have Bactine on hand that can help full the pain once the skin is broken. This helps to target the deeper layer of skin that gets affected by the tattoo process. We are also happy to break up sessions if you prefer to sit for shorter periods of time. Just let us know!

What is Recovery Derm Shield?

A "derm" bandage is sometimes used to cover the tattoo. This preserves the plasma secreted by your skin to enhance healing, especially with color/solid black tattoos. This helps to prevent larger scabbing and loss of pigment, and can cut down healing time. If you opt for this bandage we ONLY use Recovery Derm Shield, which is completely latex free with a more mild adhesive, compared to brands like Saniderm, Tegaderm, or Second Skin.

Do you offer tattoo aftercare?

We do! Made in-house, our Magic Potion Tattoo Lotion is available for purchase both online and in shop.

Do you offer free touch ups?

Touch ups are free within the first year of the tattoo in the event a piece heals with light spots in linework or coloring. We want your tattoo to look it's best! We suggest waiting 2 months before the touch up so the second layer of skin has ample time to heal and settle before going back over it. Unless otherwise stated by your artist, free touch ups are not available on fingers, palms, ears, or arches/bottom of feet but can be done at cost.

Do you sell gift certificates?

We do! All gift certificates are artist specific and only done electronically. Individual certificates can be purchased from $20-$1000 and never expire! Email giftcerts@lostlagoontattoo.com with the artist's name, recipient's name, and amount! If you are unsure of which artist would be best suited for your recipient, ask us!

*Cards can not be redeemed for cash, leftover amounts do not carry.*

Do you offer prepayment options?

We understand the need to budget, so we offer up to 50% of any session quoted $300+ to be paid in advance. The session must already be booked with a paid deposit. Prepayments are NOT transferable or refundable if the session is cancelled/rescheduled. Please email us at info@lostlagoontattoo.com for more details.
